Lindsey Graham, Republican senator from South Carolina, passed away on Saturday (July 11) at the age of 71 and new details have emerged about his sudden passing.
We learned of his death via a statement that was released.
His office confirmed he died from a “sudden and brief” illness
“On the evening of Saturday, July 11, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham passed away from a brief and sudden illness,” the statement shared. “Senator Graham’s family appreciates prayers at this time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period.”
New information seemingly reveals he was in cardiac arrest when emergency responders arrived
In a report from the Washington Post, they shared that both eyewitnesses and police scanner audio have filled in some details.
An emergency call came in at around 8:30 pm for someone having chest pain.
A man at Graham‘s home was being worked on by emergency responders and they did transport him to a local hospital, George Washington University Hospital.
Emergency responders said that they were doing CPR and he was in cardiac arrest.
At 9:30 pm, there are photos of a man being taken to an ambulance in a stretcher.
