Australian fire services issue warning for Sydney wildfire – Daily Mail

An out-of-control bushfire blazing through south-west Sydney is now fast approaching a nuclear reactor in Lucas Heights. Residents in nearby suburbs, Pleasure Point, Sandy Point, Illawong, Menai, Bangor, Barden Ridge and Alfords Point have been told it is ‘too late to leave’. An ember attack is expected to hit residents living north east of the fire, with strong winds expected to push burning embers far past the frontlines of the blaze. A spokesman for the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation said they were not aware of any current threat to the reactor but had taken safety precautions. A fire broke out at the military barracks in Holsworthy on Sunday, which houses ammunition and chemicals. Small spot fires remain, but are under control.
