Earlier this week, the CDC announced new recommendations for fully vaccinated Americans as cases the delta variant of coronavirus continue to rise.
Both the 2021 Emmy Awards and Broadway theaters have followed suit, issuing new safety protocols for guests to follow as they attend in-person events.

It was reported earlier this summer that Broadway shows were eying a Fall 2021 opening date and now The Broadway League has announced new guidelines audiences members will have to follow when attending shows.
According to Deadline, 41 Broadway theaters will require vaccinations for theater-goers as well as performers, crew members and theater staff for performances through October 2021.
Audience members will also need to wear masks inside the theaters, except while eating or drinking in designated areas.
Charlotte St. Martin, President of the Broadway League, said in a statement that the new policy “makes it simple for our audiences and should give even more confidence to our guests about how seriously Broadway is taking audience safety.”
The requirements will last until the fall and undergo a review in September 2021, which could include “a relaxation of certain provisions if the science dictates.”
Exceptions will be made for children under 12 and people with a medical condition or religious belief that prevents vaccination. These guests will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of performance start time or a negative antigen test taken within 6 hours of the performance start time.
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences also announced on Friday (July 20) that those attending the 2021 Emmy Awards would be required to show proof of vaccination.
They also reiterated their previous plans, telling guests that only nominees and their plus-ones would be permitted to attend one of the three ceremonies that are being held this year.
Cedric the Entertainer is taking on hosting duties this year. The 2021 Emmy Awards will air live on Sunday, September 19 at 8/7c on CBS, and will also stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
