Nicole Curtis is facing a legal battle against the city of Detroit.
The city filed a lawsuit against the 49-year-old former Rehab Addict host and her company Detroit Renovations LLC for allegedly failing to renovate a deteriorating home.
Her company has owned the property since a 2021 court ruling.
The civil nuisance-abatement suit claims the house has been a danger to the community, even after a 2021 court order by Wayne County Circuit Judge Timothy Kenny demanding its renovation, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The city is claiming that the owners never fixed up the home, holding Nicole personally responsible and claiming she knew about the violations, including structure deterioration and accumulated garbage, resulting in over 25 violation tickets over the years.
The city is asking the court to declare the property a public nuisance, order the required repairs to be completed and require payment of outstanding fines, according to the report. You can see the lawsuit in full right here.
HGTV canceled Rehab Addict after video surfaced showing Nicole using a racial slur while filming.
Rehab Addict, which premiered in 2010, followed Nicole as she restored historic homes so they weren’t demolished. In July 2025, she announced that she was pausing the show, and that the second half of season nine wouldn’t air until February 2026.
