M. Night Shyamalan‘s latest film narrowly beat out Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins to claim the No. 1 spot at theaters domestically amid the pandemic as of Sunday (July 25), via Deadline.

The movies come amid the rising concerns about the delta variant of coronavirus, which may contribute to the lackluster box office returns as well as relatively low Rotten Tomatoes scores for both films.

The overall weekend box office is down 27%, with Old pulling in approximately $16.5 million in its first weekend, and Snake Eyes taking $13.35 million. It’s also the lowest opening of M. Night Shyamalan‘s career.
