Meteor causes blue and purple light to illuminate the sky over Australia

A slight panic was caused after a meteor lit up the outback sky with blue and purple streaks of light before leaving a rumble that reminded some residents of an earthquake. Northern Territory received reports on Sunday night of a large ‘fireball’ flying across the sky between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek just after midnight. NT Police Duty Superintendent James O’Brien told ABC News officers were at first skeptical of the reports and decided to phone around and see what they could find out.
