The stars of the new Hulu series Not Suitable for Work are stepping out with creator Mindy Kaling for the NYC premiere!
Avantika and Ella Hunt posed for photos with Mindy on the red carpet at the screening on Thursday night (May 28) at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn, N.Y.
More cast members in attendance included Jack Martin, Will Angus, Nicholas Duvernay, Jay Ellis, Constance Wu, Victor Garber, and Harry Richardson.
What is Not Suitable for Work about?
The new series centers on five work-obsessed 20-somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill.
Mindy told Extra about the inspiration for the show.
I remember that time of my life so vividly, moving to New York City, being in my early 20s, where you just want to hurry up and rush to the part of your life where people believe in you and you have money and clout… I remember it so vividly, feeling underestimated and wanting something really badly, but it was completely out of reach.
Are any of the characters based on her?
When I create a show, I think the most important thing is that I can see myself and like obviously there’ll be like one character that people like, ‘Oh, you must be this character,’ but I think the most important thing is that every single character has like a big part of my own personality.
The show debuts on Hulu on June 2.
